December 2020 President’s Message

President's Message from Donald Rausch, VCCU CEO

In the mid-1930s, America was still in the grips of the Great Depression. Unemployment hovered at 22%, the Midwest was gripped by terrible drought that had destroyed 35 million acres of farmland, and there were hundreds of thousands of people without homes. It was in these trying times that a group of eight original members each purchased a $5.00 share in VCCU (which is still our share price today). They pooled their funds together to provide loans to help their friends and neighbors. That small group formed the foundation of modern-day VCCU. We honor their legacy still today.

We are committed to being a part of your community and neighborhood, in good times and in bad. The challenges we have faced this year have led us to innovate and find new ways to meet your emerging needs. We worked and continue to work with individuals on a one-on-one basis.

Our members are feeling the financial strain caused by COVID-19. We realize that the road to economic recovery may be long. Please reach out to us if you are experiencing hardships. We have staff members standing by to advise you of your options.

What held true in the 1930s holds true today. We are here to guide you forward in reaching your financial goals and dreams. VCCU will always be here, amongst our friends and neighbors, when it matters most.

Have a Safe and Healthy Holiday Season. Thank you for being a member/owner of VCCU.
