June 2021 President’s Message

President's Message from Donald Rausch, VCCU CEO

As we recover from a year of pandemic induced restrictions, small steps will help us all get back to normal. I am looking forward to simple things-whether is grilling, smores, or spending quality time on the lake.

Given that about 71% of the world is covered with water, shouldn’t we figure out ways to spend more time on it? I feel very fortunate to live in Northern Minnesota- the infamous Land Of 10,000 Lakes where water is everywhere for most of us to enjoy. Just take your preference- kayaks, boats, paddleboards, water trampolines, scuba gear….just a handful of options on entertainment that our lakes provide.

As COVID-19 postponed planned vacations for millions, people were forced to become creative. Vacations were still taken- they just looked a little different- they took on a whole new meaning. Simpler became a necessity…Close to home options for travel opened doors previously unseen. Instead of that planned deep sea fishing trip in Florida, a boat, a fishing rod, and a container of nightcrawlers became your new get-a-way. Campers, which had never seen their first trip, became home away from home where new memories were made.

It is no secret, the last year with pandemic, required us as a society to become a little creative…to learn new skills….to try new things. If, during this time, you discovered that you really loved the great outdoors-maybe the time has come for you to invest in that new recreation toy, whether it is a larger camper, that new boat, or a side by side to explore the endless trails, contact us here at VCCU. We have numerous options to help fund your new outdoor passion. We have several loans for recreational toys and campers. And don’t forget about that built in equity in your home. VCCU offers competitive rates for 2nd mortgages and our home equity lines, both which have minimal to no closing costs.

Let us get back to when people traveled and played as freely as their finances would allow. We are here to help with all your adventures, no matter how big or small.
